After a few days exploring the cosmopolitan tango capital of Buenos Aires and learning more about the history of this dynamic city, the journey sets off North to the mountainous terrain of the Salta wine region, dazzling travelers with its bizarre geological formation, expansive valleys, subtropical forests and salt plains. Salta city, the gateway to the wine region, is the first stop, welcoming travelers with an impressive central plaza dotted with colonial architecture, local restaurants and museums. A visit to one of Salta’s traditional peña(or pub), where tourist and locals alike mingle and the more daring dance to the traditional folklore music, shouldn’t be missed.

After a day enjoying the Saltena capital, the trip sets off on a scenic drive that passes National Parks, small colonial villages, soaring condors and impressive ravines before arriving to the town of Cachi.  Next stop is Estancia Colome-set in a picturesque vineyard- for a couple days of indulging in gourmet meals, fine wines produced at their on-site winery and complete relaxation of the peaceful environment. Cafayate, Salta’s main wine producing valley, is where the trip ends, but with many more wine-tasting opportunities along the Cafayate Wine Route-a group of specialty wineries including Finca de Las Nubes and San Pedro de Yacochuya.
