Experience a solar eclipse in Patagonia – catch a unique phenomenon at the ends of the earth

On July 11, large areas of Patagonia will be cast into darkness just before sunset due to a solar eclipse starting in French Polynesia and passing over Easter Island before dropping through the southern reaches of the South American Continent. Most, if not all hotels on Chile’s remote Easter Island long since full for the key date, but we do have space in both the Chilean and Argentina Patagonia, which would serve as an ideal alternative for the solar eclipse event.

We have created a new experience in Argentina that is specially created for wine and gourmet food enthusiasts. Our Argentina culinary tour begins in cosmopolitan Buenos Aires for a few days taking in the capital’s cultural attractions and fabulous restaurants-famed for their savory steaks and hearty red wines. The journey continues to Mendoza; land of rolling vineyards, family-ran wineries, quaint wine lodges, and refined restaurants. Take a cooking lesson at Andeluna Winery, where guests are taught the secrets of Argentina’s traditional delicacies. Lunch will be served among the vineyards with a front row view of the snow capped Andes peaks.

Continue to Salentein winery, best known for their exquisite reds and the on-site Kilka museum housing artwork from local artists. The Almacen Sur-a hidden restaurant with gorgeous gardens is a must see for any lovers of fine cuisine. The food is locally grown and the herbs are freshly picked from the gardens before each meal. Every dish of the five course feast is carefully paired with a selected Mendoza varietal. Next visit the Achevel Ferrer winery to try some of their hearty and well structured Malbecs-noted as the first Argentine wine to receive 96 points by Wine Spectator magazine. Mendoza additionally offers numerous activities for nature lovers alike with river rafting and trekking in the Andes, bike riding, leisurely walks, golf and much more.

For your last few nights in Argentina, stay at a family ranch estancia in the Pampas where you’ll experience the “gaucho” way of life; riding horses, playing polo, swimming, eating asados(traditional bbq), and relaxing-a leisurely way to wrap up your adventure in Argentina. We can customize the itinerary specifically for you that will delight all your senses, including your taste buds!
