Buenos Aires Golf

Buenos Aires Golf ClubAside from having excellent beef, wine and tango shows, Argentina has become one of the latest hotspots for enjoying a good round of 18 holes. Recognized as the South American hub for golfing, Argentina’s golf courses are beginning to become noticed on the international front due to their well kept fairways, intriguing physical landscapes, and reasonable prices. Here are a couple premier destinations outside the capital of Buenos Aires where we can arrange an afternoon of golfing.

The Jockey Club

The Jockey Club is located in San Isidro and is an exclusive golf course with a classic British feel that exudes refinement and tranquility. It was founded in 1882, also making it one of the oldest of the clubs in the Buenos Aires area. The club house has a graceful design, and flaunts dark paneled walls and elegant couches that look out onto the rolling greens. The fairways are lined by tall trees that encourage straight shots and follows a general design layout of courses of its original era. The Jockey Club has two courses, El Azul (Blue) and La Colorada (Red), the latter of which is where the National World Cup of Golf was held in 1970.

The main hallway of the club house is decorated with large framed pictures of both old and new golf professional faces, reminding guests of the history and legacy that permeates its walls. The club offers an elegant dining room for all its visitors and an exclusive “Men” only restaurant; a sanctuary for male golfers to congregate and assumingly converse about golf swings, politics and women over a scotch. There is a conveniently placed ATM machine on the premises, and a golf shop where all the latest polos, sweaters, and clubs can be purchased with the Jockey Club’s new logo. Spend a day at the Jockey Club to enjoy a traditional game of 18 holes and allow yourself to be transported to another place in time.

Buenos Aires Golf Club

Nestled away in a gated community in Bella Vista is the Buenos Aires Golf Club. Also described as B.A.’s most “top” golf course, this place is extremely charming, and oozes luxury without feeling pretentious. Upon entering the American style club house, guests are greeted by a welcoming staff and a panoramic view of the entire golf course with a large sparkling pond in the heart of the fairways. In the club house, every detail has been well planned, right down to the individual jars of jams tantalizing waiting guests as the staff set up for their morning brunch including puff pastries, fresh fruit, and a wide selection of teas and coffees.

There is also a full restaurant and cozy bar area equipped with a wide screen television that shows golf tournament programs, and slanted leather bar stools, which make for a pleasant nook to enjoy a refreshing drink after completing 18 holes. The grounds are green and impeccably groomed, while offering a course design sure to appeal to even the most astute golf pro. The club house is a wonderful place to spend a few hours, play a couple rounds, relax and let the hustle and bustle of the outside world melt away.
