Our approach to travel offers the opportunity to slow down and take part in something that is authentic, meaningful and real. We avoid what has become a part of modern tourism and instead seek out experiences that resonate with authentic local life carried on according to its own natural rhythm. We avoid the boredom of programs with tourist guides and focus instead on the genuine passion of local characters who bring alive their world through their stories. Today luxury travel goes beyond staying at a five-star resort, and the recommendations that so often make a trip memorable cannot easily be found online or in travel guides.

New and Improved: Traveling to Machu Picchu

Published by Lourika under Machu Picchu, Peru

Travelers wanting to travel to Peru this summer, will be pleased to hear the railway heading to Machu Picchu should be fully repaired by June 25.  Earlier this year, extreme flooding from torrential rain caused severe damage on the railway leading to the historic site, causing some train services to close for several months. The ruins themselves were not damaged by the floods but were inaccessible by tourists as there is no direct road access. The capital of the Inca Empire and UNESCO World Heritage Site is open for visitors and this summer is a great time to visit Peru and the ancient city in the sky.

In addition to the railway restoration, trains to Machu Picchu have also been renovated. Starting July 1st, the popular Vistadome and Expedition service carriages now have many new improvements such as amazing panoramic windows, allowing guests to take in all the vistas and incredible views leading up to the ruins. New upholstered seating and state of the art sound equipment make the train ride leisurely, comfortable and enjoyable.

No visit to Peru is complete without a visit to Machu Picchu. Please visit our Machu Picchu Tours page for more information.

Solar Eclipse in Patagonia

Published by Eric under Patagonia, Uncategorized

Experience a solar eclipse in Patagonia – catch a unique phenomenon at the ends of the earth

On July 11, large areas of Patagonia will be cast into darkness just before sunset due to a solar eclipse starting in French Polynesia and passing over Easter Island before dropping through the southern reaches of the South American Continent. Most, if not all hotels on Chile’s remote Easter Island long since full for the key date, but we do have space in both the Chilean and Argentina Patagonia, which would serve as an ideal alternative for the solar eclipse event.

For lodging, tour, and hotel arrangements visit the Latin Excursions South America Tours page.
